My American Ninja Warrior 5 Submission Video

With us in “quiet time” before the airing of American Ninja Warrior 5 this summer, which starts in just a few weeks, I’m hamstrung in terms of what I can write about under the non-disclosure agreement. So I’m just going to put my submission video for ANW5 up again.

They specifically told us to “tell our story” and not just show action scenes, so that’s the reason why this might seem a bit verbose. I’ve tried to still show some good action clips to demonstrate that I still have some real obstacle course chops despite my advancing age 😉

If it makes you feel any better, I now feel like I should have put a lot more work into my video, even though it was still several times more work than I had put into any video before. I’d be stunned if you weren’t given an invitation this year.

Funny you mention the story thing.  THis year I went with way more “action” because I was better prepared.  The action was somewhat part of a storyline, but we will see.  Best of luck to you, it was ridiculous what you had to go through last year.  No way Im trying to walk on again though…

Also, is it just me or does it seem like there is less of a buzz this year?  I know G4 is on its way out, but the only person who has posted their video on that board (with 7 days left for submission) is the guy who is well under the age limit.  I dunno, last year I was speculating and then I was spectating so…

I think the G4 board is kinda dead (at least that is what I heard).  I lost my password, and their password recovery function isn’t working anymore, so that’s why I haven’t been around there.

Looks good Matt. I too was a little unsure of how I liked my submission video when I watched the playback that included my “tell me a story” bit about myself. It seems like it takes up a lot of video just covering that portion. But I guess that’s what they asked us for!

Well, the deadline is rapidly approaching and I have heard from some that the tryout picks will be around mid-March…have you heard anything regarding this?

Hey Kerry. I doubt the tryout picks will be decided by mid-March. I’m guessing mid-April, with the city competitions happening in May. But that’s just my educated guess!

I did ask one of the cast producers and they said they may start contacting those who made it in mid-march….fingers crossed for you…and me!

This is supposed to be the year of the 35+ competitors, right? :)

Great stuff Matt! I really hope they give you another shot this year.
My name is Rob Logan. I am from Boston and have also submitted a video and application for ANW5.

In an amazing coincidence my company is sending me to Madison, WI for some training the week of April 8th.

I would really like to connect with you if possible. If you would be so kind, please email me at roblogan69@gmail.com.
Thanks, and fingers crossed for the both of us!

Thanks Rob, I appreciate that! I actually no longer live in Madison :-( Hope to get to meet you in Vegas if/when we both make the National Finals!

  • Rob Logan

Thanks Matt, I hope the same!
Any good places to train while I am there?
I have yet to find a warped wall…

  • Rob Logan

Madison I meant, can you recommend any good places to train while I’m in Madison?

  • Anonymous

Sorry Rob, I lived in Madison before I was a ninja, so don’t know the scene there!

  • Rob Rob Logan

No problem Matt. Thanks for the response.
